Behavioral Challenges

In talking to teachers and administrators from a variety of schools, it is known that often more time is spent in the classroom dealing with disciplinary actions, resulting from bad behavior (and student relationships) than actually teaching curriculum. This is not the fault of the teachers nor is it the fault of the child. The root cause is often a feeling of isolation and anger - primarily from lockdown conditions in recent years.

Systemic Challenges

In addition, somewhere on the road to excellence the education of our children has become more about "statistics and performance" and we have lost sight of the fact we are dealing with human beings with a variety of gifts and talents who also react to the pressures of "educational development." Perhaps we have also forgotten that specific social, communication and life skills are necessary to excel in life and career.

The Solution

At Foundations First we do our best to make sure that every child has the skills necessary to grow and excel in any environment. Whether it is by helping a fellow student, learning how to communicate information to others or simply by being given the freedom to use their natural gifts and talents in ways that can serve the general good.

Only when these foundational skills are firmly learned can we then provide and focus on teaching the academics, sports and performing arts curriculum that allows all our students to excel.
